In 2023 we focused on enhancing the member experience by making some changes to our share and lending programs. Embracing our new CDFI certification we added to our Member Trust program and launched our Fresh Start services, this added opportunities for member/potential members who have prior negative banking experience to start again. We also provided a limited time no credit check lending option over the holidays, helping our members stay away from the pitfall of payday lenders. All of these reflect our strong effort and commitment to assist you the member in achieving your personal financial goals.
Thanks to the support of our dedicated volunteers, and our incredible staff, we will continue to navigate the ever-changing financial landscape, while continuing to provide value and personal service. As we look beyond today and plan for the future, we will continue to move forward with technology always adapting and evolving with the financial industry. A lot of this can be found in the new options we are offering through our online banking/app services. If you haven’t already downloaded our new app, do it today and check out all the new services available at the touch of your phone.
On behalf of the volunteers and staff———-Thank You!!
Lynda Hild, President
I would like to thank the management and staff for their dedication and vision throughout the economic trials that we have faced. I would also like to thank the Board of Directors for volunteering their time and making the commitment to ensure that this credit union remains strong and viable for many years to come. I would also like to express my sincerest appreciation to our members who place not only their money, but their confidence and trust in Casebine Credit Union. We look forward to serving you and your families for years to come as we celebrate our 75th anniversary.
Your credit union remains in a strong financial condition withstanding the prevailing challenges from the pandemic and current market unrest due to inflation. Members can continue to look to this credit union as a safe place to deposit their funds.
In 2023 Casebine received it’s CDFI (Community Development Financial Institution) designation from the United States Treasury Department in conjunction with the NCUA. People and communities with limited access to financial services and products lack the tools they need to save for the future, build credit, buy a home, or start a business. As a result, they have fewer opportunities to grow and thrive and fewer opportunities to join America’s economic mainstream. Casebine role as a CDFI is to generate economic opportunity in underserved low-income communities by expanding access to credit, capital, and financial services. Being attuned to the needs of our members, communities, and businesses and their work reflects a participatory approach to community investment and revitalization and strengthens Casebine’s relationship with its communities.
Again, I would like to thank our members for supporting us as we continue to serve our communities and the people that work and live in them.
Daryl Wolff, Board Chairman
The Casebine Credit Committee serves the Board of Directors, our membership, and the communities we serve through our oversight of all lending activities and our commitment to support your Casebine lending staff and management team. Not only do we oversee lending and collection policies that guide our loan programs and procedures, but we work with management and the board to seek out new opportunities to broaden our lending platform.
Designated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) as a Low-Income Credit Union, Casebine serves small towns across six counties in rural southeast Iowa and west central Illinois. By providing access to reliable financial resources, CCCU helps members build assets. Through its deployment of affordable loan products to low-income and distressed consumers and its support of community development, CCCU’s mission. This included closing 717 loans for $4,520,937.87 in 2023 and creating multiple new lending programs designed to assist our low-income members.
We look forward to continuing to serve our members and communities in 2024.
Thank you for your support of your communities’ credit union, Casebine.
Wayne Smith, Credit Committee Chair
It is the Audit Committee’s responsibility to ensure that the credit union maintains the quality of service every member deserves. To accomplish this goal, the committee performs specific duties including overseeing an annual independent audit of the Credit Union, verifying members’ accounts, reviewing internal accounting systems and controls, and ensuring that all policies and procedural guidelines are followed.
In 2023 the Audit Committee engaged the independent accounting firm of Eide Bailly CPA and Business Advisors to do an “agreed upon procedures audit” of our financial records and files as of June 30, 2023, and the Iowa Credit Union Division performed a state exam June of 2023.
The Committee believes, based on the report of the certified public accounting firm and a review of the Credit Union’s operations, Casebine Community Credit Union is in sound financial condition and is operating under sound management procedures.
Thank you.
Amy Beavers, Audit Committee Chair
